Vinnova Gara 36-inch vanity with the sink on the left and three drawers on the right

Offset Sink Vanities: Left or Right? Sizes, Prices & How to Choose

The short answer: choose the side where your drain and water lines already come out of the wall. An offset sink vanity has one basin set toward the left or right end of the top instead of in the middle, which leaves one long stretch of counter on the other side. Stand facing the vanity: if the basin is on your left, it is a left offset. In our catalog, every 36- and 42-inch offset sink vanity is a left offset, and five 60-inch models come as a left or a right. List prices run from $1,164.94 to $2,149.99 at the time of writing, October 6, 2026.

Every count and price here comes from our own listings, read on October 6, 2026. Prices can change, and the product page always shows the current one.

When an offset sink vanity helps

Most single-sink vanities put the basin in the center. People usually choose an offset sink for one of three reasons:

  • The plumbing is already off center. The old vanity or sink sat to one side, so the drain and water lines are there too.
  • Something is close on one side. A door, a toilet or a tub crowds one end of the vanity, and the sink works better at the other end.
  • You want one long counter. A centered sink splits the top into two short pieces. An offset sink leaves one long piece.

Teal mark: where the drain and water lines come out. Dot: faucet. Not to scale. Check the specification sheet for the exact sink position.

Left or right: how to tell, and how to choose

Stand facing the vanity, the way you would to wash your hands. A left offset has the basin on your left and the open counter on your right. A right offset is the reverse. Before you order, look at the product photo and make sure it shows the sink on the side you expect.

  • Start with the plumbing. Open your current vanity and find where the drain pipe and the two water shutoffs come out of the wall or floor. A vanity with the basin on that same side is the simplest swap. If the basin will sit somewhere else, a plumber has to move the lines, so get that priced before you choose.
  • Then the door. If the bathroom door swings toward the vanity, put the sink at the far end so the person using it isn't standing in the door's path.
  • Then the counter. The open side is where the hair dryer and toothbrushes end up. If there is a wall outlet at one end, that is a good end for the counter.
  • Watch a side wall. An offset sink sits closer to one end, and that end is often against a wall. The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) recommends 20 inches from the center of the sink to a side wall or tall obstruction and gives 15 inches as the building-code minimum, according to an excerpt from the NKBA's Bath Planning book in Supply House Times. Codes vary by location, so confirm yours with your plumber or building department.

36- and 42-inch offset sink vanities (all left offset)

At these sizes, every offset sink vanity we carry has the sink on the left, over the door side, with drawers or an open shelf on the right. Each one below is confirmed by the brand's own data sheet or specification drawing. Prices are list prices at the time of writing, October 6, 2026.

Cutler Razza 42" Wall mounted One door on the left; two drawers on the right 3 Cultured marble top with an integrated sink $1,359.80

Two things stand out:

  • There is no right offset at 36 or 42 inches as a complete vanity. If your plumbing is on the right, see the 36-inch countertop option below, or have a plumber price moving the lines.
  • The sink position is a real measurement. The Vinnova distances above come from Vinnova's specification drawings. Your plumber can use them to check the drain location before you order.

60-inch offset sink vanities (left or right)

These are single-sink vanities with one long counter. All five are from Moreno Bath, each comes as a left and a right, and each has a reinforced acrylic top with an integrated sink. "Left or right" means the two sides are separate listings, so open the one for your side.

Vanity Width Sink side Style Finishes Worth knowing List price, 10/6/2026

NCS 60" Left or right Freestanding 1 Fluted doors with a louvered bottom drawer $2,149.99

The name isn't the measurement: the two Elsa versions list 59.06 inches wide for a 60-inch vanity. For any model, check the listed size, and see How to Measure Your Bathroom for a New Vanity.

A 36-inch right offset: the countertop option

If you need the sink on the right at 36 inches, Laviva's Forever VIVA Stone solid surface countertop comes as a left offset or a right offset, in matte white with an integrated sink, at $696.75. Laviva's Odyssey marble countertop is left offset only, in three marbles, at $599.25. Each is listed at 36 inches wide and 22 inches deep with one faucet hole.

Those are list prices at the time of writing, October 6, 2026, for the countertop only. The listings don't name the cabinets these tops fit, so check the cabinet with us before you order.

60-inch offset single vs. 60-inch double

At 60 inches you can have one offset sink or two sinks. Here is what each costs in the same five models, at list price on October 6, 2026.

Model Offset single (left or right) Double sink Difference
Elsa, floating $1,519.99 $1,499.99 Offset single is $20 more
Elsa, freestanding $1,639.99 $1,511.99 Offset single is $128 more
Bella $1,699.99 $1,699.99 Same price
Mason $1,759.99 $1,759.99 Same price
NCS $2,149.99 $2,149.99 Same price

In three of the five models the price is the same, so the choice comes down to how you use the room. Two sinks let two people get ready at once. One offset sink gives you one long counter, and one faucet and one drain to buy instead of two. For two sinks, the same NKBA excerpt recommends 36 inches between the centers of the basins, with 30 inches as the code minimum.

If two people share the bathroom every morning, read Single vs. Double Sink Vanity: Which Is Right for You? before you decide.

Drawers on one side does not always mean an offset sink

Many 36- and 42-inch vanities have a bank of drawers on one side and doors on the other, yet the sink still sits in the middle of the top. The cabinet looks lopsided, but the drain is centered. If a listing names a drawer side ("Left Side Drawers" or "Right Side Drawers") and says nothing about the sink, look at the photo: the faucet shows where the sink is.

Before you order

  • Plumbing: have a licensed plumber confirm the plan if the drain or water lines have to move.
  • Wall mounted or freestanding: the Cutler Razza and the floating Elsa hang on the wall. See Floating vs. Freestanding Vanity before you choose.
  • Weight: the 36-inch models that list a weight run from 134 to 188 lbs, and the 60-inch models from 181 to 239 lbs, so plan on help getting it into the room.
  • Faucet: check the listing for what is included and how many faucet holes the top has before you buy a faucet.

How we counted

On October 6, 2026 we looked at the main photo of every single-sink vanity model from 30 to 48 inches in our catalog, and at every 60-inch single-sink listing. We counted a vanity as an offset sink only when the brand's own data sheet or specification drawing shows it, or the listing's own name says which side the sink is on. That gave 29 listings: 19 at 36 and 42 inches (Laviva, Vinnova and Cutler) and 10 at 60 inches (Moreno Bath). Models where the sink position could not be confirmed were left out.

Frequently asked questions

Which side is the sink on in a left offset vanity?

On your left as you stand facing the vanity. The open counter is on your right.

Do you have a 36-inch vanity with the sink on the left side?

Yes. The Laviva Odyssey and the Vinnova Gara, Tokyo, Jakarta and Oza are all 36 inches wide with the sink on the left. At 42 inches, the Cutler Razza is a left offset too.

Do you have a vanity with the sink on the right side?

At 60 inches, yes: the Elsa (floating or freestanding), Bella, Mason and NCS each have a right-side listing. At 36 inches, the Laviva Forever VIVA Stone countertop comes as a right offset, as a countertop only.

Can I use a left offset vanity if my drain is on the right?

Only if a plumber moves the drain and water lines to the other side. It is usually simpler to buy the vanity that matches the plumbing you have.
