Shopping for a home steam shower generator and confused why prices range from $1,099 to over $3,000 for what looks like the same box? Here's the real answer: two choices set the price. The generator size (4.5 to 12 kW on most packages, up to 24 kW on the Black Series) has to match your shower's size, and the series sets how you control it and what's bundled in.
We pulled real specs and pricing across all 35 SteamSpa generator packages we carry to make the tiers clear.
Each package page has a Wattage option, and SteamSpa's spec sheets (linked on the package pages) give the most room each size can handle. To size yours, multiply your shower's length, width and height in feet to get its cubic feet, then pick a generator whose rating covers it. Go one size larger for every foot of ceiling over 8 feet, and always round your measurements up. For example, a 4 x 3 ft shower with an 8 ft ceiling is 96 cu ft, which is more than the 4.5 kW rating, so it needs the 6 kW.

Every steamhead is available in round or square (a cosmetic choice with no price difference), and most series offer an optional Built-in Auto Drain that purges excess water and minerals after each use — worth the upgrade if you want less maintenance, since mineral buildup is the main thing that shortens a steam generator's life.
Sentry Touch ($1,099) is the right call if you just want reliable steam with no frills.
Executive or Oasis ($1,559–$2,149) is the sweet spot for most bathrooms: Auto Drain to cut down on maintenance, wireless control if you don't want a wired panel in the shower.
Royal or Raven ($1,799–$2,299) if you want the spa extras — chromatherapy lighting and an aroma pump genuinely change the experience, not just the price tag.
Black Series ($2,582–$3,049) is for anyone who wants to run the whole shower from their phone, including Bluetooth speakers built into the control panel.
