How to Install a Frameless Shower Enclosure

Tools and Materials You'll Need

• Level and tape measure
• Drill with glass/tile-rated bits
• Silicone sealant and caulk gun
• Shims
• Manufacturer-supplied hardware kit (hinges, clamps, handle)

Step 1: Measure and Confirm Your Opening

Measure the width, height, and depth of your shower opening at multiple points — walls and floors are rarely perfectly square. Confirm your enclosure's dimensions allow for adjustment via the included hardware.

Step 2: Dry-Fit Before Drilling

Set the panel(s) in place without fastening anything to confirm fit and door swing clearance. This is the easiest point to catch a measuring error.

Step 3: Mark and Drill Mounting Points

With the panel held level, mark where wall clamps or hinges will attach. Drill pilot holes sized to your wall material (tile, drywall, or cement board each require different anchors).

Step 4: Mount the Glass Panel

Attach wall clamps or hinges first, then carefully set the glass panel into place with a helper. Use shims to keep the panel level and plumb while you tighten hardware.

Step 5: Install the Door and Hardware

Hang the door on its hinges, then attach the handle and any towel bar hardware. Test the swing and adjust hinges as needed for a smooth, even close.

Step 6: Seal Everything

Run a clean bead of silicone along every edge where glass meets wall, floor, or another panel. Let the sealant cure fully (typically 24 hours) before using the shower. Tip: Frameless glass is heavy and unforgiving of mistakes — for enclosures over 48" wide or with multiple panels, consider having a professional handle the installation.
